Demonstrations and Talks: Neil Walker will be in the observation tower (MP1) from 11.00 am – 4.00 pm explaining the principles and process of ranging / gun aiming etc. Several sets of optics will be on display and available for people to view and tryout. These include a 1m coincidence rangefinder, a Scherenfernrohr (‘Donkey Ears’) with tripod, a 3x9 PaK sight and standard field binoculars, plus a few books and paperwork.
Walks: Martin Walton will be conducting walks around Batterie Lothringen, from 11.30 am & 2.00pm (meet at command bunker)
Archive Displays - Photographs: CIOS photographic archive albums one and two.
Four display boards featuring previously unseen unpublished photographs of the ‘88’ battery on Mont de la Mare.

Archive Displays – Hardware items: Radios:
Two German wartime civilian radio sets and accompanying documents, including a copy of a German civilian radio licence, German wartime radio advertising poster and photographs.
A selection of crystal sets.
A selection of civilian British, Czech and American 1940s radio sets, including two RAP radios (RAP radios feature ex- military parts and components).
Accompanying documents, including photographs (two from La Société Jersiaise).
Two Occupation civilian radio licences, plus a few notices etc.
Archive Displays – Equipment: A selection of items donated to the CIOS, including a horse saddle, gasmask container, helmets and uniforms.
Food: Rations: Six plates showing the average daily rations for each year, from 1940 – 1945.
Substitute food available to try: The following foods will (should!) be available for people to try: Sugar beet syrup, parsnip coffee, Carrageen moss jelly, milk biscuits, oatmeal biscuits, limpet stew, turnip soup.
All bunkers at Noirmont in the care of the CIOS (Jersey) will be open – free admission |
